This wizard takes you through a set of steps to derive the U Value of a building element based temperature measurements for the element and a reference element with a known U value.
Internal and external ambient temperature values are measured with a thermometer.
Surface temperatures are measured using a Thermal Imaging Camera.
For further details of how to take the measurements see TECs Using The Thermal Imaging Camera document.
Measurements should be taken:
Readings should be taken within a short time period, so that errors due to changing conditions are minimised.
The orientations of the unknown and reference elements must be the same.
Use the thermometer provided to measure the outside ambient temperature.
Use the thermometer provided to measure the interior ambient temperature.
Use the thermal imaging camera to measure the interior surface temperature of the reference element.
The reference element should be vertical.
Input the U value of the reference element:
Use the thermal imaging camera to measure the interior surface temperature of the unknown element.
Select orientation of the unknown element type.
The U Value is W/M2K
